5S is a structured programme designed to systematically achieve organisational cleanliness and standardisation in a workplace. Using a list of five words starting with ‘S’; Sort, Systematise, Shine, Standardise and Self-Discipline, the programme aims to drive productivity improvement via operational efficiency and space utilisation.


The Restaurant Association of Singapore (RAS) is the main training provider for 5S in the Food & Beverage (F&B) industry. To date, over 50 restaurants outlets and manufacturers are 5S certified, including Jumbo Seafood, Palm Beach Seafood, Pu Tien, JP Pepperdine, Jumbo Group, Paradise Group, Pine Garden’s Cake, Tung Lok Group and Yum Cha, among others.


F&B outlets that are keen to embark on the 5S programme are eligible for grants from SPRING Singapore. Below are the options available:
